This is Event is Open to All VFD members!

Date: Saturday 22, 2017

Time: Registration 9 AM, Class Starts promptly 9:30 until Noon

Location Huntingdon Regional Fire & Rescue, McConnellstown, PA on PA route 26, just a few miles South of the Huntingdon Walmart
The Art of the Ask brings the soft skills of how to invite a person to join your organization to those that need it most, your volunteers. It seems simple, if everyone would just bring one friend, you would have all the help you need. Yet nationally the amount of people willing to volunteer is in decline and those that remain struggle with the basics of recruiting volunteers, “The Ask”.

Our 2-hour workshop will transform both veteran and recent volunteers into brand ambassadors for your organization. We cover everything from “soup to nuts” in a simple, fun format that will get everyone involved!

Key Topics of the Workshop

• How many Volunteers does your Organization need?

• Your Organization’s Public Image

• Identify your organizations needs – recognizing volunteer needs

• Passive Vs. Active Recruitment

• How to ask someone to volunteer

• Where, When, How and Who are you going to recruit?

• The Follow-through

If you missed our classes in January now is your chance to join in the fun!

Meetings April 5th Phoenix

April 5, 2017, 7:00pm - April 5, 2017, 9:00pm

There will be a special meeting for AMFI members this Wednesday, April 5th at 7 PM at Phoenix Fire Hall, Hollidaysburg, PA. The purpose of the meeting is to give AMFI member department POC’s a chance to talk about the future. While our federal funding is gone, if it is the desire of the group, some of the group, there is no reason why we can’t continue our mission and self-fund it. Several of you have wanted a forum to voice your ideas about what you would like to as the next version of the Allegheny Mountain Firefighters Initiative. This is your chance to talk about your suggestions and how we could fund it. This is just a brainstorming session. If you would like to come and speak about your ideas, please feel encouraged to do so. If you can’t attend but would like to contribute an idea to the group simply reply to this e-mail. To be clear there is no current plan to continue beyond April as AMFI. This meeting will be to discuss ideas about reforming as a new organization. If your department has rescue dummies, smoke machines or any other training or marketing materials in your possession please return them ASAP to Phoenix Fire Station for Inventory and Inspection. We must do a proper accounting of all AMFI materials.

"FF-1 Certifications" The Ashville Volunteer Fire Company is very pleased to be adding "Eleven" of our firefighters to our roster of certified members. Each of these members received their Firefighter 1 Certification, from the State Fire Commissioner this week. This group which includes two "Life Members" (Tom Callahan and Ken Hite) with more than 25 years service each, have worked hard to achieve this goal giving themselves and the company continued credibility in our training. Congratulations to them all ! Doin' What We Do "60 Pride"

The SAFER Grant that funded the AMFI will end in April. However, local businesses like Delgrosso's that appreciate the hard work, sacrifice and dedication of volunteer firefighters continue to support our efforts to spread the word that more recruits are still needed. Let us know if your business would be interested in helping to support the local volunteers in our area.

All Fire Departments are welcome to attend the event listed below.
